1) How is the fact that this is a disaster film foreshadowed in the opening of the film?
The film is showed to be a disaster film from the start. There is hints that are given. Such as natural disasters occuring and important and clever people being picked out and hired for the misson to the core. Also people are randomly fainting and falling over in the street, which suggests something is wrong and needs to be solved.

How is sound and editing used to create tension and drama during the spaceship landing scene?
3) The sound and music caused alot of tension during the spaceship scene. When the connection is lost on their misson to the core, the music speeds up and gets higher. The cuts between the inside of the ship and the outside get much more frequent. The crew soon begin to realise what is happen, this is when panic and chaos is shown. Once everything is safe and the space ship lands safely, the music slows down rapidly and the cuts aren't as often.

4) The sound is in the background, mainly. The editing creates the ellipsis which speeds up to give the audience the thought of time passing quickly.

- sound, editing, camera work and Mise-en-scene.5) The scene of the natural disaster (lightning storm) there is a lot of sound, such as people talking (dialogue) and noises from the tv in the cafe (at the start of the scene). Once the tv turns off, the light goes off, which also causes tension. The music starts, and eventually gets faster and faster. The music increases during all the chaos in Rome. There is a huge ammount of editing. Such as the lightning storm itself, the destruction of the coliseum and the cafe which was shown previous during the scene.
